Alexander Fleming was a scientist born in Scotland. He had eight other siblings. His older brother, Tom, took a job in the medicinal field in London. Soon, Fleming and his other brothers and sisters moved to London to follow Tom. After getting a standard education, Fleming attended St. Mary's Hospital to specialize as a surgeon. Soon after, he switched to bacteriology to keep his job there. During World War II , Alexander began to search for a drug to prevent infection. This is when he discovered penicillin, the miracle drug.
